Auckland is a popular destination all year round, so there is no cheapest month. Prices vary day by day, which can impact the fare for your preferred travel dates. You may find cheaper Auckland flights during the middle of a weekday, or on a weekend. Keep in mind that flight prices could increase over school holiday periods. Peak season periods like Christmas and Easter could be more expensive. Remember these tips when you plan a visit to Auckland.

You can fly to Auckland from most airports in New Zealand, often on a non-stop flight. All New Zealand's major cities - Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown - have non-stop flights to Auckland, and so do most airports in the top half of the North Island. If you're flying from a smaller regional airport, your flight may take you to Auckland via one of the main airports.

Upon arrival at Auckland Airport, there are many ways to get to Auckland City. The Airport Link bus leaves every 10 minutes for the Puhinui rail interchange, from where you can take a train into Auckland. The trip usually takes less than an hour. You can board the Airport Link bus at the domestic or the international terminal, and you'll need an AT Hop pre-paid card to pay for your fare. (You can buy an AT Hop card at the airport.) For a faster trip, book a taxi or rental car. You can do this with us when you book your Auckland flight with Air New Zealand. Taxis can get you to the city centre in about 25 minutes, or 40 minutes in peak hour traffic.
